Fostering ideas in Fishermans Bend

June 19, 2024

Hear from past finalists of the Fishermans Bend Digital Innovation Challenge.

In the last Fishermans Bend Innovation Challenge 2022, we asked:

As Fishermans Bend NEIC (National Employment and Innovation Cluster) continues to evolve its legacy as a site for innovation, how might we use data and technology to enable a shared and equal understanding of the impact of our daily choices, so we can drive change towards a more resilient future?

We received more than 20 exciting proposals and narrowed it down to six finalists;. All finalists received prizes and mentoring and pitched their submissions to a live panel of judges and community on the Pitch Night.

The winning idea,Remix Raingardens: Repurposing local waste for good, by University of Melbourne student Amira Moshinsky, was brought to life with input from a team of experts, in Fishermans Bend as a pilot project as part of the Emerging Technology Testbed.

What are some of the 2022 finalists up to now?

Amira Moshinsky, Remix Raingardens lead, and winner of the 2022 Challenge is continuing her Master of Engineering (Environmental) at the University of Melbourne, while managing the expansion of Remix Raingardens with FB IDEAS following a successful pilot program in 2023.
