Phase two engagement summary

August 17, 2020

The City of Melbourne released a concept design for the redevelopment of the Kensington Community Recreation Centre in September last year following phase one of engagement earlier in the year which helped inform the design.

From 2 September to 4 October 2019, a second phase of engagement was held to seek feedback from the community on the concept design. Engagement included several information and drop-in sessions and a survey which ran on Council’s Participate Melbourne website.

A total of 146 people provided individual responses, over 30 people gave feedback through the face-to-face session and many children and young people were consulted as part of dedicated sessions.

Overall, participants were very supportive of the redevelopment and commented on a broad range of elements of the new centre. To view a summary of the report, read the community consultation summary.

Thank you again to everyone that has taken part in this engagement process to help shape the plans for the centre.

Future Melbourne Committee Meeting

The schematic design for the redevelopment of the Kensington Community Recreation Centre will be considered for endorsement at the Future Melbourne Committee meeting on Tuesday 18 August. This is the next step in transforming the ideas from the concept designs into workable plans and enabling the project to proceed to tender. View the meeting papers.
