Draft Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy

The Waste and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 establishes a long-term vision for the City of Melbourne to become a global leader in waste management and resource recovery, and to develop and introduce cost effective, environmentally responsible waste and resource recovery systems now and into the future.

Seven outcomes have been identified to achieve this goal:

  • less waste production by the city
  • more efficient use of resources
  • a city with higher amenity
  • more effective recycling separation systems
  • a resilient recycling sector.

Ten priorities and 28 key actions have been proposed for the first four years of the strategy implementation.
