The Greenline Project is a transformational project that presents a new vision for the north bank of the Yarra River - Birrarung. It will create 4km of interconnected promenades, parks, open spaces, Australian native planting, cultural activations and environmental renewal between Birrarung Marr and the Bolte Bridge.

The project is underpinned by policies and strategies prepared by Council and the State Government. These reference Traditional Owner culture and heritage together with community aspirations to improve the health and wellbeing of the river, with new promenades, public space, and improved connections.

The Greenline Project is located on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, and guidance from Traditional Owners will be ongoing throughout the design and development of this project.

Where we are at

The final Greenline Project Master Plan was approved by the Future Melbourne Committee on 5 December 2023.

The master plan will provide a framework for the Greenline Project, one of the biggest city-shaping projects in Melbourne’s history.

We integrated feedback from a four-week stakeholder and community engagement program into this Master Plan. Feedback will be used to develop and refine future Precinct Plans and Concept designs.
