City of Melbourne is making it easier for all residents to access affordable renewable energy, no matter where they live.

The Power Melbourne project will install a network of neighbourhood batteries around the city. The batteries will be linked to a retail electricity plan to help renters, people living in apartments, and those running small businesses access more affordable renewable electricity.

We’d like to know what you think about neighbourhood batteries and when the time comes, how we can make it easy to switch your energy bills to a Power Melbourne plan.

We’re committed to powering Melbourne with 100 per cent renewable energy by 2030 and we know our community is behind us.

Following a municipality-wide community engagement in late 2022, and calling for people to nominate to become Neighbourhood Batteries Community Champions in early 2023, we’re now meeting people in their neighbourhoods for in person conversations.
